My Reaction to Reactions

1. Why the hell are you so arrogant?
And: You need a little bit of intelligence to realize the difference between arrogance and confidence.

2. Anyone can read a few books on philosophy and make a movie. Don’t be proud that you are a director. These are millions of people more talented than you.
Ans: Ok Sir. Yes Sir. All right Sir.

3. Life is full of surprises. Who can say which decision is right?
Ans: That’s exactly what I have been screaming all this time.

4. Where did your aesthetic sense go Ramu?
Ans: Higher than your eye can see.

5. My girlfriend says that the only way to shut you up is to put a cello tape on your mouth or get under the sheets with you.
Ans:Ahhhhhhh! I love her.

6. How was the sound for the footsteps scene on the stairs in Kshana Kshanam done?
Ans: Am impressed and thrilled that you noticed that. It was the idea which was unique and the process is very regular.

7. What is your idea of a beautiful woman?
Ans: Who looks beautiful to me.

8. Define a nice guy.
Ans: One who doesn’t threaten your sensibility, intelligence, your physical being and your emotional state. In simpler language, a guy who you don’t need to really bother about as nice guys don’t matter in the scheme of things.

9. I have mixed feelings on your personality.
Ans: That’s because I am a mixed person.

10. Grow up when you still have time.
Ans: Ok Pop.

11. You are corrupting us all.
Ans: “You say you believe in me. But did you find me? To find me you have to seek yourself first and the day you find yourself you will not need to seek me as I would have become a part of you”.- Friedrich Nietzsche.

12. Does truth get magnified only when the successful advocate it?
Ans: Yes, and the reason for that is because the majority either do not have the brains or don’t want to tax their brains to understand the truth, so they would take the easy way out by believing in whatever the successful say.

  12. Ramu,

By your definition, you are not a nice guy to most people. Not that I care…:-)

Is the new procedure of authorization a way to screen out wierd comments that you (and probably most other visitors to your blog) do not find value in?

  13. Ramuji, Enjoying the witty responses, as always. But really looking forward to reading more articles on film making. Coming from a seasoned pro like you, anything connected to making movies – theory, business deals, techniques, anecdotes, reviews, debates on content – is interesting and at the same time informative. Of course, you cant turn the blog into a classroom I understand. But I feel it is time you gave us a post on movies.

  26. static_atmosphere_energy says:

    Oh no!
somebody has taken energy_static_atmosphere as id…
i guess i have to change my id..

this is the problem of internet

people are MPD but here id can become multi identity disorders!

  27. you are a weirdo and making group of weirdos????

  28. Why are people obsessed with companionship/marriage ? for example, even the strongest
military man, who is gone for months and perhaps years at a time, still marries. Why ?

  29. How do you deal with people who are clingy, needy, and have a constant desire to be
around you ( at work not in your personal life ).

  30. In the film Govinda Govinda, there is a scene which starts with a temple and kausalya supraja as background score that ends with a busy movie theatre with chumma chumma dede song in background. What did you want to convey? ;)

  31. In Sarkar, Selvar Mani shrieks ‘murugaaaa’ before his death. Is it something like Gandhi saying “hey ram” before his death? ;)

  32. The main villains(i.e. the most cunning, cruel, power mongering characters) in Shiva 2006(Home minister) and in Sarkar Raj(Rao Saab) are Gandhi followers.
What Ramu, did you find anything fishy with Gandhism? ;)

  33. Haha..now that I subscribed to the live feed, I can see how many have thought that they are the first one to post a comment. including me. Its funny..hehehe..

  34. Ilayaraja once copied Michael Jackson’s “DANGEROUS” song.. and used it in your movie “GAYAM”.. ‘cheli meeda’.. unusual that the maestro actually had to copy a tune. He could have come up with greater ones..

did you personally like MICHAEL JACKSON’s song? did you advise that tune?

how much involvement/interference that directors has with music directors with regards song tunes??

this is a deja vu.. i feel like i asked this question already..

  35. This is cool Ramu. Moderation finally..your blog so needs it.

  36. Ramu, I’m not able to access your ‘Camera as the Pen’ post. I’m not able to see the post or the comments.

  37. Hello Ramu,

  39. Hello Ramu,
This is about the Telugu Movide, Govinda Govinda, Censor episode. Why weren’t the CENSOR Board people convinced with the following scene?
” …Villain(Kota Srinivasarao) reaches to the LORD VENKATESWARA statue. And he is already running short of time to complete the job (theft). He finds himself in a position where he is NOT tall enough to remove the KIREETAM (it’s not anticipated by him). And he decides that there is NO option but CLIMB on LORD VENTAKESWARA statue (can Imagine that a THiEF who is after money does not mind to do this in reality;) to remove the KIREETAM and he does….”
    thanks,
    naag

  40. Okie so whats the big deal, huh?

  41. Ramu… “my girlfriend says” that I appreciate the fact that you blog even when you don’t have to (read film plugging). Cool blog mate. Keep entertaining us. Thank You.

A Question – Dunno if this is the right forum to ask though…
As an outsider – How big a role did sex (proximity to gorgeous women) play in your decision to work in the film industry. Isn’t it that which attracts most people from small towns to the big bad city (along with the money, of course). How many come attracted to films purely as an art form???

  42. Neekanna pedda mental gani says:

Comparing u and maniratnam who is the great director???

  43. hello sir, which is your favourite character in fountain.do you believe that ur character resembles howard roark .??

  44. i meant..in fountain head.!!

  45. Hello Ramu,
Why isn’t you are concentrating (I feel so) more on the Background music in your movies these days? I feel the Background music for Telugu movies you did was impressive than in the Hindi movies (exceptions: Satya…). Say Ilayaraja’s Background music in Shiva(that really gave LIFE to your work), Keeravani’s in Kshana Kshanam and Antam, Mani Sharma’s in Raatri, Koti in Govinda Govinda (and the same is re-used in Sarkar and it’s sequel…). I look forward to your reply…
    thanks,
    naag

  46. Hey Ramu, would like to make a film on a transfemoral amputee…. Do reply plz;-)

  47. Right, Wrong, Guts, Stupidity, Arrogance, Confidence are the different perspectives of different people for the same thing.

  48. what you think of “The Dark Knight” as a film?

  49. Great philosopher Mannn!! but i lked philosophy.
Why don’t u make a movie on Indiam History like NTR did..
If we remake NTRs adventurous movies now with graphics..I think they would be great..what u say

  50. Hi ramu,

Do you conceive the frames/scenes we see on the screen, right at the script and story stage or later break it along with the right camera angles ?
    keen to know abt it…..

    thanks.

  51. @suzanne21383:

Gayam’s music director is “Sri” and NOT Ilayaraja

Awaiting your new Post for more entertinment/In some cases enrichment as well.

  55. Tell me one thing. Am i wasting my time by asking you this question or are you wasting your time by bothering to read, forget answering.

  56. What happened to your movie (”EK”) that you had planned to make with Mr.Bachan & Akshay Kumar based on RAW (Research & Analysis Wing). Is it still on? I thought you had a publicity design where the title “EK” was juxtaposed excellently on India and China flag.

    My 1st comment….
