Not a Love Story – Director’s Note
Ever since I can remember, I have always been fascinated with the psychological aspects of criminal behavior. After years of reading and hearing about all kinds of criminal acts and using many of them in parts as subject matter for my films, I had come to the conclusion that I had seen, heard and read [...]

How to Kill RGV
I was really touched with this following mail I got from an anonymous person who obviously knows me or has worked with me or may be working with me.
“How to Kill Ram Gopal Varma”
I never understood why Lord Balaji refrained from killing RGV after the release of Govinda Govinda. Some research on Hinduism indicated that killing is normally taken care of by Lord Shiva who for obvious reasons is quite pleased with RGV :) Well, only until 2006. I’m puzzled why Lord Shiva has not changed his mind after “Shiva 2006″. Probably “protector” Vishnu (a.k.a Balaji) protected him for having made an even worse movie in the name of his counterpart.

Dustbin Fortunes
When I was hanging out around Annapurna Studios trying to get a break, I used to attend the music composing sessions of “Collector Gari Abbayi”. In the course of those sessions whenever its music director Chakravarti and the director B.Gopal used to go for lunch I used to chat up with the music director’s assistant and once in a while he used to sing tunes which he himself composed. I was very impressed with many of his tunes and one day I described to him a scene from “SHIVA” the way I was intending to shoot it and I asked him about what kind of music he thinks should be there in that scene and he replied that there should not be any music in that scene. I was mighty impressed with the answer especially as it came from a musician and I committed to him that if ever I get a break I will sign him as my music director.

“Happy Deathday”
Years ago I had to travel from Hyderabad to Chennai for some work, related to a film I was making at that time and someone very close to me asked me not to go as the next day was her birthday. When I told her I have to go she asked me if that work was more important than her birthday.

1.Why were your assistants not as successful as you are? Ans: I will tell you that the day I come to know why I myself was successful in the first place. 2. How did you characterize Kay Kay for Vishnu’s role in Sarkar? Ans: Compared to the novel I always felt that Sonny Corleone’s role [...]
