With the arrest of Pradeep Sharma the encounter cop and the suspension of Daya Nayak and the transfer and designation changes of various other cops who worked in the encounter squad, the encounter squad as we knew it and understood it over the years has been completely disbanded and as of now non-existent. The Third Dimension
After getting hit by the incredibly enormous impact of AVATAR and then once you get over the dazzling Special EFX and the unimaginable imagination of James Cameron if you just concentrate solely on only the 3D aspect of it you will see that it surely and clearly opens up a new dimension for any kind of cinema not necessarily only for huge mega budget special EFX films like Avatar.

The Second Coming
.. Some people say less is more. I say, more is less and too much is not enough – James Cameron. As I stepped out of Imax last night after watching AVATAR in 3D, I hated James Cameron for in comparison to the ultra futuristic vision of his, he made me feel like a pre-historic [...]

PHOONK 2 versus PHOONK
In spite of Phoonk’s hit status quite a few people say that it’s not a scary film and there is a reason for that. Scare can be of two kinds where one is of a kind which scares you due to a completely helpless situation you catch yourself in, and the other which just plain [...]

Akashvani
I have always been a sucker for voiceovers in films and I think this primarily originated from my fascination with the voices of radio newsreaders of Akashvani when I used to listen to them as a kid. I feel voiceovers have an effect of almost as if the person whose voice we are hearing is [...]

My History
I always maintained that there are no great directors and no great actors but there are only well directed films and well enacted roles. That’s because a director is as good as the subject matter he chooses and an actor is as good as the character he gets. For example I am the same guy [...]

The REMOTE TERRORist
http://www.rann.sify.com/ Am posting here a 3 minute showreel of “RANN” which would give an indication of the feel, the thought and the look of the film and its characters and their inter-relationships and inter-conflicts with each other. I just hope that this video once for all will put speculations to rest, speculations such as me [...]

Dustbin Fortunes
When I was hanging out around Annapurna Studios trying to get a break, I used to attend the music composing sessions of “Collector Gari Abbayi”. In the course of those sessions whenever its music director Chakravarti and the director B.Gopal used to go for lunch I used to chat up with the music director’s assistant and once in a while he used to sing tunes which he himself composed. I was very impressed with many of his tunes and one day I described to him a scene from “SHIVA” the way I was intending to shoot it and I asked him about what kind of music he thinks should be there in that scene and he replied that there should not be any music in that scene. I was mighty impressed with the answer especially as it came from a musician and I committed to him that if ever I get a break I will sign him as my music director.

Titles and Posters
When I came up with the title “BHOOT” everybody thought it was cheap and comical. But once they saw it along with the artwork on the poster the same people thought it was brilliant. I always felt a title combined with an artwork of a poster can communicate more about a film than even a [...]

A Fighter’s Mind
There was an extreme excitement in all us youngsters at Panjagutta Colony in Hyderabad sometime in the early 70’s as somehow word got around that a new film called “Enter the Dragon” was coming starring a new actor called ‘Bruce Lee’. It was supposed to have some mind blowing martial arts sequences. I never heard [...]
