Emotional Violence
When I put a line at the end of ‘Satya’ “My tears for Satya are as much as for those whom he killed”. I said that because I truly felt that emotion which came from my understanding of his emotion.
Anyone who takes up violence would not do it on a conscious decision (unless he is a psycho path) of wanting to live by it. All People who use it as a tool of power or who sadistically enjoy its effects would be far lesser in numbers compared to people who would have been compelled to embrace it by the sheer necessity of a situation they find themselves in or they are put in by powers which are completely outside their control.
This is what I have realized in the course of making ‘Rakht Charitra’. Every single one of the emotions of the characters of RC will be coming from a very familiar space to each and every member of the audience meaning that they would have felt a similar emotion some time or the other in their life time, so as long as the emotion exists dormantly in each and every one of us all it will take is just a certain extreme situation to trigger it off which will then just spiral out of control. Even the man who instigated it won’t be in control many a time.
I believe that the success of any true great conflict in cinema is only when any member from the audience cannot take sides with any one particular character which effectively means that their understanding is complete of where each of the conflicts are arising from and the audience just get caught in a limbo of what to say to whom.
For instance in ‘Satya’, one consciously cannot think that either Satya or Bhiku or Bhau or Gurunarayan or for that matter any other character is wrong. That’s because every one of them had a certain compulsion to think, act, and feel in a certain way. Similarly in ‘Company’, you understand the conflict between Malik and Chandu but you can’t really empathize with one more than the other.
Coming to ‘Rakht Charitra’, the primary difference between ‘Satya’, ‘Company’, and RC is that the characters of RC are many folds more emotionally volatile and that’s because the situations they are placed in are many more folds more volatile than in the other two films, which would naturally result in an eruption of highly violent emotions.
P.S.- I am posting a Hindi and a Telugu video of a certain song here which makes a counter point to the highly volatile images which feature in the video. The Hindi version is sung by Suresh Wadkar and the Telugu version is sung by me.
No, I am not seeking a career as a playback singer but when I kept on telling the Music Directors Bapi-Tutul about how the song should be sung, they just got irritated and asked me to sing it myself.

Emotional Violence
……I think emotional violence is a beautiful word coz that is what the creativity is all about perhaps sometimes you dont even notice it. but it goes ugly when put in isolation……emotion turning into violence…….and reasons….there are plenty…..

Wish the folks who interview on TV channels do their home work – read your blogs and more specifically the R2R section. Atleast we can watch a more interactive conversation

Basically I thought RGV would not compromise in shooting a movie to reveal most of the faction story in a true face ….. but as a movie lover n know more about the base story of RC, I got to know that most of the story is changed not most almost its been changed, Its been better if he had shown the true complexity of the story rather than making two parts n making crucial roles as a hero’s in both the parts….. Atleast lets hope so true story would come out in ‘BEZAVADA ROWDILU’. I thing its not great to make a controversial movie based on true story… better to show the true face of a controversial story.

When “RC” was released i was so excited to see the film for two reasons, one being most of our indian do not try biographical movies and RC being one of its kind and second reason being of the hype it created before its release. i booked my ticket for 18:00 hours show, i have been reading the reviews and watching youtube videos for the whole day and even i was so excited to see a film in the theatre after almost 2 years, the whole excitement was drained off within minutes. The whole lot of hype was created just to promote the film. The conclusion after watching the movies was that RGV had lost his sheen and he trapped himself in the circle of stardom and sheer proud. I hope this movie was taken up just to show the directors “talent”, except the story, the movie has nothing in comparison to a good biographical movie, if the same story was to be directed by Edward Zwick, David Russell or Bryan, it would have definitely reached to larger section of audience. If RGV was not comfortable with biographical movies, he should have to restrict to same genre as he doing for many years. The music is so loud and the beginning of the story was pathetically conceived, as if it was wound up in few minutes to show case the smoking hero in the latter half of the movie. The delivery of the dialogues is completely devoid of reality, post production of the movie was done with a very low expertise. The “Heroism” was shown to encash the biography and free flow of blood depicts the immaturity of the director. Silence has many interpretations, where the background has to be silent there is a huge loud noise making it horrible to even look at the screen.
The grace of the movies was the story and even then it was not projected properly. I felt if i had directed the same movies it would be much better than this present form. A good story was wasted because of the immaturity of the director. It’s the worst biographical movie i had ever watched and thanks to RGV.
