Please try a COMEDY. I think it would be good for your heart. For your inclination to west, it would be befitting if you try a Shakespear comedy. And I am almost sure nobody expects a "Kurosawa" from you. Oh, I forgot Kurosawa is from EAST.

After seeing your "Reaction to reactions" I am at a loss for words....

Just remember that YOU will be the best only when the world acknowledges it and not when YOU claim so...!

Also, by trashing about the people (acknowledged by the world as the "BEST") you are only showing us your own "trash" mentality.

Rabindranath Tagore and Satyajit Ray's work has spoken for itself over the last few decades and it will continue to do so. Still, for your information, your 3 best films put together hasn't sold more than a single average work of either Mr.Ray and Tagore. Tagore's song is our national anthem - voted the best in the world... Think about that before you ever trash him or anyone ever again.

As for your reaction to "Karnatic and Ghazal music" -- that's simply a matter of TASTE... and we already know about your taste from the kind of movies you make!!!

INSTEAD OF TRASHING PEOPLE, WHY DON"T YOU INVEST THE TIME IN ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING GOOD AND USEFUL.... and if possible something of Good Taste & Intelligence...

One more thing, can you enlist few directors, not only Indian, but the world over, who single handedly do/did the following things in his/her films:

Scripting, music direction, background score, cinematography, casting, art direction, editing and designing credit titles and publicity material.

and well, on an added note, I don't know how much you know about Bengali literature, but long before ET or Close Encounters of the Third Kind was made, Satyajit Ray had written dozens of alien stories, which speak of friendly aliens and the likes. Ask anyone around. So you would save yourself some embarrasment if you first get your facts right and then open your mouth. We pity you. you need help.see a shrink.

Open letter to Ram Gopal Varma(or is it Verma?)...who cares?

Sir (for the sake of courteousness),

We Indians, as inferior we may be, have seen your works (don’t know if that makes us even more inferior). We appreciated you when you were good, trashed you when you were bad. That’s how the world works doesn’t it? You haven’t been getting the attention you deserve..oops..sorry ..desire lately for the simple fact that you haven’t been producing (or re-producing, pun intended) palatable movies, neither for the superior audience, nor for the inferior. So we can understand your crisis, that you are willing to stoop to any level of shamelessness to draw some attention towards yourself. We sympathise with you, that’s why we have been giving you the attention (although any self respecting man shall kill himself before getting such attention).

We understand your lack of comprehension of Ray’s work, and we shall forgive you, since that is what we are good at, forgiving ignorant brats. I don’t know if you have heard of that old English adage, “empty vessels make more noise” and we can see a similar pattern here. We can try and fill an empty vessel, but what can we do when that vessel has..ummm..errmm.. a hole in the bottom? Would be foolish trying to fill it wouldn’t it? Get it? Come on you are smart enough.

Coming back to the point, we were curious about the two dozen filmmakers in India who you hold in higher regard than Ray. Can you please enlighten us on who they are and some of their work? We can’t wait to watch their films, considering the reference to which they are being measured. One more thing, can you read Bengali? Or do you understand it? If not, that might explain a bit of the hullaballoo. Well, even if you don’t , you must certainly understand that thing called cinema, don’t you? Then why, for crying out loud, are you..errrr....crying out loud? If you are facing embarrassing issues with your female leads, why are you venting it out in public? Shouldn’t you be making movies on that? (my apologies if I overestimated your creative outlook).

You seem to know (or want us to think so) that you are an avid follower of western movies. So you most certainly must have heard about the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences? Do you know they hold an annual awards ceremony every year, acknowledging cinematic excellence, known to the ‘inferior’ men in your blogs as the Oscar? Oh you have heard of it? Very good, boy. Then being an Indian filmmaker (sorry I couldn’t stop laughing while writing the last word just before the bracket), you certainly know who is the only Indian filmmaker in history, who was awarded for his lifetime achievement at this aforesaid award ceremony? Or was it so overwhelming for you that you completely missed the point?

We sympathise, I understand that you too want to walk the red carpet and sniff the chairs at the Kodak theatre. But ...awwww....nobody invites you. Isn’t that sad. Ummm..are you thinking posthumous now? Silly boy. Grow up. Come on, show us a masterpiece! We know it was easy for Ray, but why don’t you give it a shot?

And finally, boy, does the name Rabindranath Tagore strike a chord? Oh his only work you know is the national anthem? That’s too bad. Don’t you wonder why his poetry was chosen to be the national pride? Or did you again miss the point? Silly billy, because he was him! He did not have to cry for attention, he just did what he did best, and lo and behold, along comes the Nobel prize! Now I am so sure, you must be trying to draw up a list of Indian poets who have won the Nobel. Are you not just embarrassing yourself? You seriously got issues, fella!

So let’s just say, in closure, that you have a disease, the disease of missing the point. You should have noticed that we have not tried to supplement your ignorance with information, rather asked you some questions. As we said, it’s foolish trying to fill a vessel with a hole in the bottom. It was just a subtle reminder to your inferior self, that when thou art vying for attention by speaking ill of some human beings superior to thyself, thou should prove thyself eligible to speak about them. It’s not your fault, it’s just the way you are, epitomising what they say-“Ignorance is bliss (I don’t even care where I piss)”. Get it? No? Damn, you missed the point again. Get well soon.

Sincerely,

The common Indian

P.S: Don’t forget to tell us about the two dozen directors! :)
